Mosaic is a deliberately small business focused on excellence in project management training. All of our courses are developed and delivered by
Dr. Lynda Bourne and Patrick Weaver.
Dr. Lynda Bourne DPM, PMP, FAIM.
Lynda has extensive experience as a Senior Project Manager and Project Director specialising in the delivery of IT and other business-related projects and has worked as a Senior IT Project Management Consultant. She is an internationally recognised consultant, author and trainer.
Lynda is Director of Professional Services with Mosaic Project Services and the Managing Director and CEO of Stakeholder Management Pty Ltd.
Patrick Weaver PMP, PMI-SP, FAICD, FCIOB.
Patrick has over fourty-five years experience in the Project Management industry. His career initially focused on the planning and managing of construction and engineering projects. The last twenty years has seen his businesses and experience expand to include the successful implementation of project controls in a range of government, ICT and business environments and the development of a range of sophisticated training options.
Patrick has been a PMI member for over 25 years and is the Managing Director of Mosaic Project Services Pty Ltd.
We do not employ contractors, in a typical PMP or CAPM certification course, Lynda teaches the 'soft skills' of communication and stakeholder management; and Patrick teaches the 'hard skills' of scope, time and cost and we share the rest.
We are required to track our student pass rate by PMI. To date, we have an overall 98% 1st-time success rate for all candidates who've booked directly into a Mosaic course.
The few who do not pass first-time have generally failed to follow our advice but are still eligible for our guarantee to ‘work with you until you pass’. Virtually everyone has passed on the second attempt.
Our PMI-SP® training courses incorporate everything you need to be successful in your examination, including:
Our trainees also have free access to our comprehensive library of White papers and other resources:
There are a number of reasons that work together to explain why we can offer cost effective courses:
The simple answer to this question is yes! PMI advise all of their approved Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.) of planned changes in the examinations many months in advance of the change occurring. We then plan our course update and changeover to meet the needs of our trainees.
Then the next change will be in 2018 when all of PMI's examinations will be updated to align with the new '6th Edition' of the PMBOK® Guide scheduled for publication in Q3, 2017.
1. Mosaic guarantees to work with each trainee who has purchased an exam preparation course until they pass their examination*.
This guarantee is conditional on the trainee making reasonable efforts to comply with any recommendations and suggestions made by Mosaic’s trainers. Whilst there will be no charge for Mosaic’s ‘support until you pass’; Mosaic will not pay for examination re-sit fees or any other associated costs and expenses incurred by the trainee.
*Note: PMI change and update their examinations at regular intervals (at least once every 4 years), this guarantee does not apply if a person has simply neglected to take the examination they were trained for. However, where an examination change occurs after a person has failed an examination and before they can reasonably re-sit the 'old exam', the guarantee will apply to the provision of support based on the new examination requirements (subject to Mosaic having developed new materials).
2. Mosaic guarantees to run its scheduled courses.
This guarantee applies provided there are a minimum of 4 people registered and paid, in the highly unlikely event this minimum number is not reached, a full refund will be provided if any course does not proceed.
3. Our training meets PMI's strict eligibility requirements.
Mosaic is a PMI approved R.E.P., as such, PMI guarantee to accept our training as meeting the requirements of an 'approved training course' required to be eligible to apply for your examination.
There are three scheduling certification frameworks we are aware of. All have merit:
PMI-SPsm Scheduling Professional Credential - PMI's credential for professional schedulers. This certification focuses on the skills needed by a scheduling manager or a PMO manager. For more information on the credential and Mosaic's PMI-SP exam prep course options, see:
The Guild of Project Controls Scheduling Qualifications - The Guild of Project Controls have announced the development of a scheduling certification structure. This framework for project controls professionals is planned to be multi-level and multi-discipline. For updates visit www.TheGuild.net.
AACE Planning and Scheduling Professional™ (PSP™) – An advanced credential focused on construction & engineering professionals with 4 to 8 years experience. This credential is essential if you intend presenting expert evidence in a USA court. See: http://www.aacei.org/cert/whatCertOffers.shtml.
AACE Certified Scheduling Technician (CST) – A credential to give less experienced professionals with 0 to 4 years experience the opportunity to advance their scheduling skills, knowledge, and professional development. See: http://www.aacei.org/cert/whatCertOffers.shtml.
The core attributes required by a scheduler are defined in Core Scheduling Paper # 2
Yes! We have a separate website dedicated to the PMP and CAPM credentials s see: http://www.mosaicproject.com.au/.
The only significant difference between our classroom courses and our Mentored Email™ courses is the method of delivery - they both cover the same modules and are supported with the same value-adding elements such as our guarantee to work with you until you pass.
The price difference is simply the cost of accommodation and catering - you make your own coffee doing a Mentored Email™ course. You still have access to your course mentor to ask as many questions as you like.
The advantage of the classroom courses is partly the interaction with your fellow students and partly the time to study is 'locked in'. Whereas Mentored Email™ courses are self-paced and you do need the self-discipline to keep going with the study. For technically demanding study programs such as the 40 hours needed for PMI-SP preparation, we have found the Mentored Email™ approach offers far better learning outcomes.
When it comes to deciding which option works best for you, it really is your call - we support all of our trainees equally.
We develop our own materials and write our own questions based on 15 years experience developing world-class PMI coursework. Our materials are developed by:
Dr. Lynda Bourne DPM, PMP, FAIM.
Lynda holds a Doctor of Project Management from RMIT University. She teaches and contributes to course development a Masters and PhD levels in Universities around the world. She is also a member of the core team selected by PMI to work on the 6th Edition of the PMBOK® Guide with particular responsibility leading the work on Chapters 10 (Communications) and 13 (Stakeholders) - publication due December 2016.
Lynda brings world-class academic rigour to our on-going course development work.
Patrick Weaver PMP, PMI-SP, FAICD, FCIOB.
Pat is an internationally recognised expert in the areas of project controls and project governance. He has worked on numerous standardisation projects for both PMI (starting with work on the PMBOK® Guide 3rd edition between 2002 and 2004) and as an Australian representative on various ISO committees tasked with developing international project management standards.
Patrick brings years of practical project management training experience to our ongoing course development work.
Our unique combination of skills combined with nearly 30 years of PMI experience (starting when Patrick joined PMI in 1986) is brought to our course development work. This is supported by PMI’s contributions to their approved Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.) in the form of intellectual property, examination outlines and other resources to ensure we have the right materials and information to develop world class materials.
Finally, Mosaic’s course materials are regularly subjected to an intense quality assurance process by PMI as part of their overall R.E.P. quality assurance program.
See more on our training development methodology.
Yes -we regularly run commercial courses for organisations around Australia and globally - see more on our commercial and in-house training options.
However, we have chosen to focus exclusively on the Melbourne market for our public PMP and CAPM classroom courses - see our PMP and CAPM website.
Our unique Mentored Email™ courses are different. We train people from around the world via this convenient self-paced medium:
The PMI R.E.P. Program establishes defined quality criteria and operational guidelines for all participating Education Providers. As a PMI endorsed, Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.), Mosaic has agreed to abide by these PMI established quality assurance criteria. Whilst participating in the R.E.P. Program, Mosaic's courses for PMP, PMI-SP and CAPM exam preparation are pre-approved by PMI for both content and the number of hours of eligible training needed to complete the application process.
Mosaic Project Services Pty Ltd is R.E.P. #1705, we have been a PMI R.E.P. since 2002. Our annual review cycle is from the 30th September each year.
All current R.E.P.s are listed in the searchable index on the PMI website at: http://www.pmi.org/learning/rep-registered-education-providers.aspx.
The contact component of our PMI-SP Mentored Email™ course is rated at 40 hours. All of our courses are pre-approved by PMI as part of our PMI approved R.E.P. quality assurance processes to deliver the required training hours needed to be eligible for the examinations. However, almost everyone needs to spend some additional time to complete their revision and be prepared for the exam! All of our courses include on-going support until you pass.
The question of how much time you need to commit is more difficult to answer, it depends in part on your prior knowledge and in part on your learning style and on how quickly you assimilate the course materials and become accustomed to the multi-choice question format. We recommend everyone takes their exam between 2 and 6 weeks after completing the course; in this period most people seem to need between 20 and 40 hours of self-study (supported by us).
The key to understanding how much time you may need to invest in revision is our 100 question benchmark test that you take at the completion of the contact hours. A score of above 80% suggests you are already more-or-less exam ready. Below 75% indicates more study is needed - we discuss this score with each person individually and make specific recommendations as to how you can best work to assimilate the large amount of very specific knowledge needed for each of the exams.
In Chinese culture the colour red symbolises good fortune and joy, and is a traditionally symbolic color of happiness.
We work to ensure each of our trainees experiences the joy of passing their chosen PMI examination and then goes on to benefit in their professional careers.
Achieving a PMI credential has consistently been shown to equate to higher average salaries world-wide, and we wish you this good fortune!
It is impossible to develop a complete list of Q & As - if you have any more questions about us, our courses, or the exams of PMI in general, please contact us - we are always happy to assist.
